Quarterly Content Guides
The Quarterly Content Guides for Reading and for Writing lay out in quarterly format when each benchmark should be initially instructed ("I").  This can provide you with a general and overall view of the year.  It is important to note that the benchmarks you see on these guides are initial instruction ("I") only.  For example, if you see cause and effect in quarter two, that means that the instruction is delivered in quarter two.  This document just really allows you to look at all four quarters and see when the instruction of a skill actually takes place.  Again, the skills you see on  this document are when the instruction is directly delivered to the students.

Instructional Maps
A Reading Instructional Map and a Writing Instructional Map for each grade level shows ALL the benchmarks and how each benchmark is covered in each of the four quarters: Is it at an awareness level?  Is it initially instructed? Or is reviewed?  From this document you can see every benchmark and the progression of each benchmark from quarter one to quarter two to quarter three and to quarter four.  For example, take cause and effect again, if you want to see what cause and effect looks like across the entire year, this document would help you.  You could, at a glance, see what is done for cause and effect each quarter, in terms of providing an awareness, providing direct instruction, or following through with continuous review.

Academic Plans

Testing Crosswalks
The Stanford-10 Alignment is provided for Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade.  Kindergarten and 1st grade include Reading benchmarks only, while the 2nd grade Alignment document includes Writing Process benchmarks in terms of grammar and the writing process.  The Stanford-10 Alignment is designed to align the benchmarks of the Sunshine State Standards with the skills and content tested on the SAT-10.  The benchmarks that are included in the SAT-10 Alignment have SAT-10 listed in the Assessment column on the individual academic plans.

The timeline for the revision of the FCAT is that it will be field tested in 2008-2009 and then the official revised test will be 2009-2010.  That still leaves the 2007-2008 school year with many teacher asking “Which Standards do we teach?”.  A crosswalk between the old and new standards has been developed to assist teachers in the transition.   The old standards that are tested on the FCAT have been linked to the new standards and can be viewed through this FCAT Crosswalk (these are just the standards that are tested on the FCAT).
