Guidelines for Renewing a
Professional Teaching Certificate
If the Subject Area(s) on your Inservice Records Report are marked
with a (C), it need needs to be renewed during this validity period.

If one (1) Subject Area is listed with a (C), renewal requires 60
CONTENT/ANY SUBJECT POINTS and 60 additional points which may come
from any content area, ANY SUBJECT, or GENERIC POINTS (for a total of 120
points).

If two (2) or more Subject Areas are listed with a (C), renewal
requires 60 CONTENT/ANY SUBJECT POINTS for EACH Subject
Area. Points in ANY SUBJECT can be applied toward content points as
needed. Generic Points may not be used in this situation.

If all Subject Areas listed on your Inservice Records Report are
marked with a (W), at least one (1) Subject Area will need to be
renewed.
It is your choice as to which subject(s) you choose to renew. Subject
Areas you choose to renew must be indicated on your Application for Renewal
of a Professional Educator's Certificate*.

If choosing to renew only one (1) Subject Area, renewal requires 60
CONTENT/ANY SUBJECT POINTS and 60 additional points which may come
from any content area, ANY SUBJECT, or GENERIC POINTS (for a total of 120
points).

If choosing to renew two (2) or more Subject Areas, renewal requires 60
CONTENT/ANY SUBJECT POINTS for EACH Subject Area. Points in
ANY SUBJECT can be applied toward content points as needed.
Generic Points may not be used in this situation.

*Subject Areas that are not renewed during current validity period must be
renewed during next validity period.
Any points not applied during this renewal period are wiped clean for the
next validity period (excludes points banked from ESOL or Reading Endorsement
courses).
