Assistant Principal Pool
Application Information
Below is the process required for application to the
Assistant Principal Pool. Applicants must
also have a general employment application on file
in the Personnel Department.
For
applicants who have never held a position as an
Assistant Principal in a public school:

AP Pool applicants must complete a
minimum of 24 hours towards a degree or
certification in Educational Leadership to be
eligible to apply for the AP Pool.
·
Upon completion of 24 hours of
coursework, applicants may submit an
AP Pool Application
to Diane Sherman, Coordinator, Teacher Leadership,
Curriculum and Staff Development Center.
·
Applications are screened to ensure
that the criteria are met, and qualified applicants
will be invited to participate in the next AP Pool
Assessment process. Applicants not meeting the
criteria will be notified of the qualifications
needed.
AP Pool Assessment Process includes:
o
2 hour Orientation Session
o
1 - 2 hour Writing Assessment and Leadership
Standards Assessment
o
2 - 3 hour Interview Assessment
o
Reflective Activity
o
30 Minute Feedback Session
o
Leadership Development Plan
The AP Pool Assessment Process will
occur at least two (2) times during the year:
o
Fall (November/January) - Application
Deadline: Friday, November 13, 2009
o
Spring/Summer (April/June) - Application
Deadline: Friday, April 23, 2010

Applicants who pass the AP Pool
assessments and activities must then complete a
program or certification in Educational Leadership,
pass the FELE Exam, submit paperwork to FLDOE to add
Educational Leadership to Florida certification, and
receive their Florida Professional Educator’s
Certificate showing Educational Leadership.

A copy of the Florida Professional
Educator’s Certificate showing Educational
Leadership must then be sent to Diane Sherman.
This completes the AP Pool Process.

Diane Sherman will verify completion
of requirements for the AP Pool to Georgianna
McDaniel, Director of Personnel, who will add the
candidate’s name to the AP Pool list.

For
applicants who have served as a Principal/Assistant
Principal in a public school:
§
And have a Florida
Certificate showing Educational Leadership
-
Complete an application on the
District online
application system.

Submit a letter of interest, resume and copy of
Florida Certificate to Georgianna McDaniel,
Director of Personnel Services.
§
And do not have a Florida
Certificate showing Educational
Leadership
-
Apply for and receive Statement of Eligibility
from the Florida Department of Education.

Complete an application on the
District online
application system.

Submit a letter of interest, resume, copy of
certificate and Statement of Eligibility to
Georgianna McDaniel, Director of Personnel
Services.
