Assistant Principal Pool Application Information

Below is the process required for application to the Assistant Principal Pool.  Applicants must also have a general employment application on file in the Personnel Department.

For applicants who have never held a position as an Assistant Principal in a public school:

·        AP Pool applicants must complete a minimum of 24 hours towards a degree or certification in Educational Leadership to be eligible to apply for the AP Pool.

·        Upon completion of 24 hours of coursework, applicants may submit an AP Pool Application to Diane Sherman, Coordinator, Teacher Leadership, Curriculum and Staff Development Center.

·        Applications are screened to ensure that the criteria are met, and qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the next AP Pool Assessment process. Applicants not meeting the criteria will be notified of the qualifications needed.

AP Pool Assessment Process includes:

o       2 hour Orientation Session

o       1 - 2 hour Writing Assessment and Leadership Standards Assessment

o       2 - 3 hour Interview Assessment

o       Reflective Activity

o       30 Minute Feedback Session

o       Leadership Development Plan

The AP Pool Assessment Process will occur at least two (2) times during the year:

o       Fall (November/January) - Application Deadline: Friday, November 13, 2009

o       Spring/Summer (April/June) - Application Deadline: Friday, April 23, 2010

·        Applicants who pass the AP Pool assessments and activities must then complete a program or certification in Educational Leadership, pass the FELE Exam, submit paperwork to FLDOE to add Educational Leadership to Florida certification, and receive their Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate showing Educational Leadership.

·        A copy of the Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate showing Educational Leadership must then be sent to Diane Sherman.  This completes the AP Pool Process.

·        Diane Sherman will verify completion of requirements for the AP Pool to Georgianna McDaniel, Director of Personnel, who will add the candidate’s name to the AP Pool list.

Address any questions concerning the process to the Teacher Leadership Coordinator, Curriculum & Staff Development Center, at 337-8630.
