ESOL Endorsement Overview
ESOL
Endorsement requirements for teachers are based upon the subject
they teach. The amount of training required is classified in
three categories for instructional personnel and one for
administrators and guidance counselors.
Teachers
have up to six years in which to complete the ESOL Endorsement.
Category I
– Endorsement - 300 Inservice Points
Primary
Language Arts/English, Developmental Language Arts,
Reading/Intensive Reading
Category II
– 60 Inservice
Points
Social Studies,
Mathematics, Science, and Computer Literacy
Category III
– 18 Inservice Points
All other subjects
not included in Categories I or II
Category IV
– 60 Inservice
Points
School
administrators and Guidance Counselors
