ESOL Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
How can I find out
the ESOL requirements for my current job assignment?
A:
Check out the ESOL
requirements for your position under ESOL Endorsement Overview.
Q: My inservice
report is missing courses I have taken. How can I be sure I have
credit?
A:
Please complete an
Inservice Record Research Form found on the FORMS link on
the right-hand side of this page. The information will be
researched and earned credits will be posted to your inservice
record.
Q: I am an
ESE teacher. What are my ESOL requirements?
A:
Your requirements
depend upon what you teach as an ESE teacher. If you are the
primary deliverer of language to English Language Learner
students, you are required to complete the full 300-hour
endorsement. If you are not the primary deliverer of language,
you need a 60-hour ESOL course. We recommend the Methods of
Teaching ESOL (elementary or secondary) according to your
current teaching assignment.
Q: What are my
requirements as a Pre-K teacher?
A:
Pre-K teachers need
to complete the 18-Hour ESOL Survey
Q: I was previously
in an assignment which required the full ESOL endorsement, but
moved to an assignment that only requires the 60-hour course.
Do I need to complete the 300-hour ESOL endorsement?
A:
If you decide to go
back to an assignment that requires the endorsement, you will
then be required to complete the 300-hour endorsement.
